Background

  • Wasatch Peaks Credit Union is deeply rooted in Northern Utah, serving a diverse membership of 31,116 that includes families, small business owners, and hardworking individuals. The credit union holds assets of $607 million as of March 31, 2025, with 7 branches supported by a staff of 97 full-time equivalent employees. Headquartered in Ogden, Utah, Wasatch Peaks’ goal is to help its members achieve financial success while maintaining a strong connection to the local community.

    Wasatch Peaks went live on the Blossom You online banking platform in May 2023.

Challenges

  • Wasatch Peaks Credit Union sought a new, comprehensive digital banking and core system to help address several challenges:

  • Outdated member experience

    Members expressed frustration with the “clunky,” outdated user experience offered by Wasatch Peaks' prior online banking vendor—especially when it came to mobile banking and a lack of self-service options.

     

    “We need to capture a member from the minute they go to our website or download our app to open an account,” says Crystal Tucker, Vice President of Member Experience. “They may never speak to us in person. And that just wasn't possible [with our former vendor].”

  • Need for a modernized, flexible platform:

    To keep up with evolving member expectations for a modern, digital experience, Wasatch Peaks sought a technologically innovative partner with a desire to continuously add new features and functionality.

     

    “The platform lacked innovation and flexibility,” Tucker says. “We needed a partner who could evolve with us and prioritize both functionality and design.”

  • High costs of enhancement:

    With their prior digital banking provider, making updates or adding features was prohibitively expensive.

     

    "Cost was a major factor. We found ourselves investing significantly without seeing real progress,” Tucker says. “The cost to implement even small improvements was high, and we often felt limited in our ability to evolve digitally."

    Wasatch Peaks’ team members felt constrained by their prior online banking solution and were frustrated by the amount of time it took to access data and manage member inquiries.

     

    "Internally, our staff spent too much time managing manual processes and navigating around system limitations, especially with the admin tool," Tucker says.

  • To address these pain points, Wasatch Peaks sought a modern, responsive platform with seamless, fully online account opening and loan application capabilities. The system would have to be innovative yet cost-effective, offering an outstanding return on the credit union’s investment.
